PC Basketball Gets Commitment From Kalif Young

The Providence College men's basketball program has received a commitment from Canadian forward Kalif Young. Young announced his commitment via his twitter account on Wednesday.

Rivals.com ranks Young as a 3 star recruit. 

Young will join newcomers Maliek White, Alpha Diallo and Emmitt Holt on the court this season. Isaiah Jackson will also be eligible to play after sitting out last season due to transfer rules. He came over from George Mason.

The Friars have one scholarship remaining for the 2016-17 season but are booked for 2017-18. 

Kalif Young 

Young, a 6'9" forward with a 7'0 wingspan, is a native of Toronto and attended Orangeville Prep. Last spring he played for CIA Bounce on the EYBL circuit where he averaged 6.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. 

Young recently played in the Biosteel All-Canadian Games (think McDonald's All-American game) where he scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds and was named MVP. 

It was previously reported by SNY that Young was down to choosing between Providence and Marquette and visited Providence on Saturday. 

He was also recruited by Pittsburgh, Loyola Marymount and St. Bonaventure. 

Friars Await Bentil's Decision 

PC is still awaiting a decision from forward Ben Bentil on whether he will return to school or go to the NBA Draft. 

Bentil has until May 25 to make his decision.
