PC Basketball Back in Top 25

PC returns to top 25 in both polls
The Providence College Friars men's basketball team (6-1) is back in the top 25 in both the AP poll and the coaches poll. Providence is ranked 23rd in the Associated Press Poll and 24th in the Coaches Poll. The Friars were last ranked in February of last season, getting to #25 in the AP Poll.

Breaking Down the Polls

PC is coming off a solid showing in the Wooden Legacy tournament in which they knocked off #11 Arizona before falling in the championship game to #3 Michigan State on Sunday night.

In the AP poll, Providence is ranked ahead of #24 Louisville and #25 Baylor while ranking behind #22 SMU and #21 Miami.

In the coaches poll, the Friars rank ahead of Big East rival Butler and behind #23 Baylor and #22 Louisville.

Kentucky ranks #1 in both polls.

RPI Ranking

Providence also has the 19th best RPI in the country behind Oregon and South Carolina who rank 16th and 17th respectively.

The RPI rankings measure the teams strength of schedule and is adjusted based on wins and losses and who those wins and losses come against. 

Return to Action

Providence returns to action on Wednesday when they host the University of Hartford at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.

The Friars will get their first road test on Saturday when they travel to URI to take on the Rams in a gam that will be televised on ESPNU.
