NEW: PC Basketball Slips to 11 in National Polls

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team has slipped to 11 in both the AP and coaches Poll on Monday. The Friars are coming off a 1-1 week in which they lost to #7 Xavier at home and beat Georgetown on the road. 

This marks the 10th straight week in which Providence has been ranked. 

The Polls

The Friars are ranked 11th in the Coaches Poll behind Virginia and Michigan State at 9 and 10, respectively, while ahead of West Virginia and Baylor at 12 and 13, respectively. 

PC is also ranked 11th in the AP Poll behind Virginia and Michigan State at 9 and 10, respectively, while ahead of SMU and Iowa State. 

The Friars are one of three Big East teams in the national polls for the second straight week. 

The other two teams are Villanova (3/4 ) and Xavier (5/6 ). 

North Carolina holds on to the number one spot in the Coaches Poll, while Oklahoma holds the number one spot in the AP Poll. 

RPI Rankings 

In the most recent RPI rankings, Providence is ranked 24th, after being ranked 21st last week. 

The RPI rankings measure the teams strength of schedule and is adjusted based on wins and losses and who those wins and losses come against.

Next up 

Providence returns to action on Tuesday, February 2 when they visit DePaul. 

Tip off is set for 9 p.m.
