NEW: PC Basketball Cracks Top 10 in National Poll

PC Basketball cracks top 10
The Providence College Friars men's basketball team (11-1) has jumped to number 10 in the Associated press poll and has stayed put at number 14 in the coaches poll. The Friars are in the top ten for the first the since 1978.

In the AP Poll, Providence is ranked one spot behind Big East rival Butler and two spots behind Arizona who sits at number eight. PC is ranked ahead of Iowa State and Kentucky.

There are three Big East teams (PC, Butler, Xavier) inside the top ten in the AP Poll and four Big East teams ranked in total as Villanova sits at number 17.

In the coaches poll, PC stayed at 14, one spot behind Purdue and two spots behind Butler while staying ahead of Louisville and Miami at 15 and 16 respectively.

Michigan State is ranked number one in both polls.

RPI Ranking

The Friars remain on the outside of the top 25 RPI rankings this week.

The RPI rankings measure the teams strength of schedule and is adjusted based on wins and losses and who those wins and losses come against.

Next up

The #10 ranked Friars return to action tonight when they visit UMass. Kris Dunn, who has missed the last two games with a stomach virus, is a game time decision.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
