PC Basketball Climbs Into Top 15 in Country

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team (8-1) have jumped to number 15, from 23, in the most recent college basketball poll released by the Associated Press. Providence is ranked 18th in the coaches poll, a jump from number 24 last week.

Providence earned wins over the University of Hartford on Wednesday, December 2 and a win over the University of Rhode Island Rams on Saturday night to help them climb the polls.

The Friars were also helped by teams ranked ahead of them like Syracuse and Oregon who both lost games. Syracuse has dropped out of the polls.

PC is ranked behind Arizona and West Virginia at 13 and 14 respectively while ahead of Baylor and Miami who rank 16 and 17 respectively.

RPI Ranking

The Friars have also jumped from 19 to 12 in the RPI rankings. PC is one spot behind Duke and one spot ahead of Purdue in those rankings.

The RPI rankings measure the teams strength of schedule and is adjusted based on wins and losses and who those wins and losses come against.

Next up

Providence returns home on Wednesday night when they host Boston College at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The Eagles beat PC last season. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
