PC Basketball Unveils 2016-17 Non-Conference Schedule

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team has announced their non-conference schedule for the 2016-17 season. 

The schedule is highlighted by a road game against Ohio State as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games and a game against either Iowa or Virginia in the Emerald Coast Classic in Florida. 

Breaking Down the Schedule

PC will open their season when they host Vermont on Monday, November 14 before playing Ohio State on the 17 and then returning home to face Grambling and St. Francis Brooklyn on the 19 and 21 respectively. 

Following those games, PC will play two games in Florida against Memphis and then either Iowa or Virginia before coming back for 6 straight home games. 

Rivalries Renewed 

Providence will host URI on Saturday, December 3 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. PC has won 5 straight against the Rams who are expected to be one of the top teams in the A-10 this season. 

Following that game, the Friars will host Brown on Tuesday, December 6. PC and Brown have split the last two meetings. 

UMass will come to town on December 10 to complete rivalry week of sorts for the Friars. 

Closing Non-conference Play

PC will finish their non-conference schedule with a home game against Wagner on the 17th and one against Maine on the 20. 

The home game against Maine will mark the return of former PC assistant coach and Rhode Island College Head Coach Bob Walsh. 

The Friars conclude their non-conference schedule with a road game against Boston College on Friday, November 23.
