The University of Rhode Island beat Brown University 38-10 win in the 40th edition of the Governor's Cup Saturday night in Kingston. It was the 106th time Brown and URI have met.

Brown’s defense has given up 35 or more points in each of its three games this season — Brown drops to 1-2 on the season.  Last season, six times in ten games, the Bears gave up more than 40 points. Brown finished 2-8 last season.

The Rams (3-2) scored five first-half touchdowns and carried a 38-3 into the break, paving the way for the team's first home win of the season. The victory - URI's fourth straight in the Governor's Cup series - also snapped a two-game losing streak and got Rhode Island back above .500.

Rhode Island's eight first-half possessions resulted in five touchdowns, one field goal, one missed field goal and a turnover at the Brown 1-yard line. Meanwhile, the defense had two interceptions that led to touchdowns, two forced punts and two turnovers on downs as the Rams dominated play on both sides of the ball.

At one point, the Rams scored 24 unanswered points for URI, which was capped by two Caleb Warren touchdown catches just 19 seconds apart in the final minute of the half.

The game marked the 40th Governor's Cup between the Rams and Bears, with Rhode Island winning its fourth straight in the series. It is Rhode Island's longest win streak in the series since a five-game run from 1989-93.
