Rams Fall to Hawaii

Trailing 49-48 with 6:42 left to play, URI’s Jeff Dowtin knocked down a three to give the Rams a 51-49 lead in the game.

From that point, the Fighting Rainbows went on a 10-2 run to take a 59-53 lead with just under four minutes to play.

Rhode Island would get as close as two points, 60-58, after Dowtin knocked down a three and Christion Thompson got a layup, but could not get over the hump.

Helped by free throws, Hawaii closed the game on an 8-2 run to take the 68-60 victory.

Rhode Island was led by Dowtin, who had poured in 17 points.

Cyril Langevine added 11 points and 14 rebounds.

The Rams shot just 34% in the second half after shooting 46% from the field in the first half.

URI finished the game shooting 40% from the field and 27% from three.
