URI Given 11 Seed in NCAA Tournament, Will Face Creighton in 1st Round

Hassan Martin and the URI Rams are heading to the NCAA Tournament
The URI Rams are back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999. 

After winning the A-10 Tournament championship, the Rams were given an 11 seed on Sunday night by the NCAA Tournament Selection committee and will play Creighton in the first round.

The game is set for Friday at 4 p.m.

URI's Season 

The Rams finished the year with an overall record of 24-9 and a conference record of 13-5. 

URI entered the A-10 Tournament as a four seed beating Saint Bonaventure in the quarterfinal round, Davidson in the semifinal and then knocking off VCU to win the championship. 

The championship win guaranteed the Rams their first NCAA Tournament berth in 18 years. 

URI's Tournament History 

The URI Rams are making their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. 

Their last appearance coming in 1999 when they lost in the first round after a 20-13 finish in the regular season.
