Leading 9-5 with 16:26 left to play, URI went on an 8-0 run to take 12-point lead. Cyril Langevine's layup made it 17-5 with 12 minutes left in the half.
Another layup by Langevine with 3:28 left in the period gave Rhode Island its largest lead of the half 34-17. The Rams would take a 36-20 lead into the half.
In the second, Saint Joseph's would cut the Rams lead to 13 points.
After Rams head coach Dan Hurley called a timeout, URI would build their lead back up to 22 points after a Kuran Iverson layup to seal the win.
The Rams defense held the Hawks to just 38% shooting from the field and 22% shooting from three. Saint Joseph's also hurt themselves by making only nine of their 20 free throw attempts.

Matthews led the Rams with 13 points on 4 of 11 shooting from the field.
Hassan Martin followed up with 12 points on 4 of 6 shooting from the field while pulling down 9 rebounds.

URI closes out their regular season on Saturday, March 4 when they host Davidson at the Ryan Center.
