URI Basketball to be Featured as Part of ESPN's Tip-Off Marathon

The URI Rams November 17 home game against Valparaiso will tip off at 10 a.m. and will be featured as part of ESPN"s Tip-Off Marathon. The game will air live on ESPN2. URI last took part in the tip-off marathon five years ago when they lost to the University of Texas.

Valparaiso Crusaders

Last season, Valparaiso went 28-6 under head coach Bryce Drew, winning the Horizon League title and nearly upsetting Maryland in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Crusaders return almost their entire roster from last seasons team.

URI Rams

Rhode Island went 23-10 last season and advanced to the second round of the NIT Tournament before losing to eventual NIT Champion Stanford. This season, URI returns four starters including E.C. Matthews and Hassan Martin.

URI will open up the season on Friday, November 13 when they host American at the Ryan Center. Game time is yet to be determined.

ESPN Tip-Off Marathon

The ESPN Tip-Off Marathon is in its eighth season and will feature 16 men's and women's college basketball games starting on Monday, November 16. The marathon will feature teams from 16 conferences including two other games featuring A-10 teams. Those two games feature George Washington hosting Virginia and Dayton hosting Alabama.
