URI's "D" Shuts Down George Washington in 59-55 Win

The URI Rams men's basketball team (14-5, 7-2 A-10) defeated (16-5, 6-3) George Washington 59-55 on Saturday afternoon at The Ryan Center. The Rams are now 7-2 in conference play for only the sixth time in program history, the last time coming in 2009-10.

URI Trailed by five ,48-43, with just over five minutes to go in the game when URI's defense flipped the switch to lockdown mode and held George Washington to just one field goal the rest of the way. Meanwhile, the Rams closed the game on a 17-6 run and sealed the win.

For the third straight game, URI was led by Jared Terrell who netted 17 points on five of nine shooting from the field and seven of seven from the free throw line. Hassan Martin followed up with his fifth double-double, netting 15 points and grabbing ten rebounds. 

The Colonials were led by Kevin Larson who netted 15 points in the game. 

The Rams return to action on Sunday, February 8 when they travel to Richmond to take on the Spiders. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
