MA Unemployment Drops to Lowest Rate Since April 2001

Massachusetts total unemployment rate dropped to 3.3% in October, marking the lowest rate since April 2001, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

Since December of 2015, Massachusetts has added 61,300 jobs, and the state's labor force participation rate is at 64.9 percent.

"We are pleased to see the state's unemployment rate continue to drop month after month. But we are mindful of the residents who have not been able to find a job in the past year. We are doing all we can to reengage those individuals in this thriving job market," said Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Ronald L. Walker, II.
