United Way of RI Awards $90K in Grants to Olneyville Community
The United Way of Rhode Island has awarded $90,000 in grants to eight local organizations through its Olneyville Community Fund.
“For more than a decade, even before United Way called Olneyville home, we have been committed to supporting the redevelopment and revitalization of the neighborhood. Over the years, our dedication to the area and our neighbors has only grown stronger; we’re excited to see the impacts of these investments, which are only possible thanks to our generous donors,” said Anthony Maione, President and CEO of United Way of Rhode Island.
The Olneyville Community Fund was established to support Olneyville residents, community-based organizations, and business owners implement programs that help support a thriving neighborhood. In particular, the fund focuses on supporting the following results:
Improving access to key services for Olneyville residents;
Increasing the capacity of organizations to provide key services to local residents;
Improved awareness and advocacy around key issues impacting Olneyville residents;
Enhancement of the physical environment of Olneyville’s public spaces; and
Improved sense of community between Olneyville residents and community partners.
The range of program initiatives to receive funding includes providing access to health screenings and comprehensive primary care for uninsured residents; educational year-round and out-of-school time programming for youth; capital investments to improve public space; outdoor recreational programming for families and youth; adult literacy programs; teen technology skills training, and more.
