I got this week's content from an event my team, and I attended last weekend. The event was the Fit Body Boot Camp World Conference, where over 500 owners and coaches from all over the USA and Canada attended.
It was a fantastic event, and Team Providence made it known that we were a force to be reckoned with in the fitness industry. Not only did we achieve a couple of awards, but my team and I made deep connections with other fitness professionals and learned from some of the best in the industry.
The awards were sweet, but I don't look at an award as reaching the pinnacle; I look at awards as a standard to live by and a benchmark that needs to be conquered daily. An expectation to live up to.
Ya see, too many people receive an award, then fall back into mediocrity. Except for Kobe, MJ, Nick Sabin, and Tom Brady, how many teams win championships yet end up at the bottom of the heap the next year?
With that being said, we are using these awards as stepping stones, and as I said on stage in front of 500 of my colleagues, NEVER PEAK; THE BEST IS YET TO COME.
Now that all the accolades are out, I will explain how to pay with KASH to get to the next level in life. My friend, Steve Hadley from Alabama, gave this presentation, so I want to give him a shout-out for the idea.
He created the acronym and the baseline; I will elaborate and deliver the goods to you because getting content like this is more valuable than a glass award you put on the desk.
Here it is:
Pay with K*A*S*H
⁃ K-nowledge - ask what do I need to learn?
Knowledge is no longer power; knowledge + action + consistency = power. I believe in lifelong learning, as we need foundational knowledge in every aspect of life to be more successful. I love the term “white belt mentality” because that's the mindset you must have when on any journey. When you say, "I already know that, "you are doing yourself a disservice because learning is a lifelong endeavor.
⁃ A-ttitude - what’s my default response when faced with a problem?
Are you reactive? Do you get irrational? Do you focus on the problem, or do you focus on the solution? Nearly every situation has a solution, and it's our responsibility to figure it out. One of our core values at Providence Fit Body Boot Camp is to Be Solution-focused to Solve Problems. We can find faults and uncover problems with almost everything in life. However, finding a positive outcome takes less time, energy, and anxiety to be solution-focused.
⁃ S-kills - where do I need to improve the most?
I don't care if you are a fitness coach or a carpenter with 20 years of experience, your skills need to be sharpened regularly, or you will get dull and complacent. The main ingredients are self-awareness, humility, and the ability to accept feedback. If you are too arrogant and cocky to recognize you need improvement in certain areas, your personal growth will come to a screening halt. Lose the ego, self-assess, and sharpen the ax.
⁃ H-abits - what habits are no longer serving me.
We all try to incorporate good habits into our routines. However, we must realize that bad habits will keep us from accomplishing our goals faster than adding good ones. If you have the habit of hitting the snooze button, wasting time scrolling social media for hours a day, drinking too much, or binge-watching tv all night, it's time to drop some of these roadblocks and incorporate new ones. "Tiny Habits" is a great book to read if you want to make some incremental changes to your daily routine.
So there you go, a nice big bag of K*A*S*H to put in your emotional bank account. You may not be able to go out and spend this on material goods today, but if you invest correctly, you will be paid dividends for a long time to come.
Committed to “our” success,
Coach Matt
