Bloody Night in Providence: One Murdered on East Side, 5 Shot, and Two Stabbings

Six people were shot in Providence overnight — including one homicide — and multiple stabbings were reported.

About Incidents

Shortly after 2 AM on Sunday, Providence police received a call for a man stabbed on Union Avenue. He is in critical condition.

Then, around 3:30 AM, police responded to reports that a woman on Olney Street was shot by people in a vehicle.

The woman, in her early 20s, died from her injuries. 

Police then responded to a parking lot on Reservoir Avenue, where people had been gathered. Police report that someone had open-fired on the crowd and shot 5 people. 

According to police, there was also another stabbing overnight that occurred on Broad Street. 

Latest in Providence

Early Saturday morning, police investigated a reported stabbing on Federal Hill overnight. 

According to the victim, the stabbing took place outside of Opa, a restaurant and hookah lounge on Atwells Avenue.
