Juvenile Arrested at Providence School - Charged With Robbing 11-Year-Old at Knifepoint of 50 Cents

A juvenile has been arrested for having a knife on school grounds in Providence - and he is being charged in conjunction with an incident in which an 11-year-old reported being robbed at knifepoint - of fifty cents.

According to police, following an investigation, detectives identified and located a suspect as a 14-year-old male, who was found in possession of a knife on school property on Wednesday, at Roger Williams Middle School.

The individual was taken into custody and, after further investigation, was later charged with the robbery accordingly.

The suspect has been charged with first-degree robbery and possession of a weapon on school grounds

 

About Incident 

Police say that shortly after 4 PM on Monday, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the District 5 substation on Magnolia Street.

The victim, an 11-year-old boy, told police he had been dropped off on Progress Avenue when a man approached him, grabbed him by the shirt, and demanded “all his money.” 

The male suspect then took out a pocketknife and held it against him and searched his pockets, said the victim. 

The victim said the suspect stole two quarters from him before someone nearby witnessed the altercation, at which time the victim said he was able to get away from the man.
