Man Trashes Capital Grille in Providence, Causing Thousands of Dollars in Damage

Damage to Restaurant
According to a manager at the Capital Grille, the suspect had walked into the restaurant shortly before 1 PM on Thursday and asked the hostess for some water.
Witnesses say he then ran into the manager’s office and locked the door.
He reportedly trashed office shelves and lighting as well as the ceiling and air ducts, before police were called and he fled the scene.
The restaurant said it estimates the damage to be several thousands of dollars.
About Incident
When Providence Police were called to the Capital Grille shortly after 1 PM, they were told the suspect was heading toward Waterplace Park.
Officers said they encountered the suspect holding onto a railing at the river’s edge threatening to jump; the police marine unit and police boat were called to the scene.
Police said they were able to talk the suspect down from the ledge. He was transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital for evaluation.
The suspect was later identified as Edward Barlog, age 43.
He is facing multiple charges and will appear in court on Friday.
