Man Shot in Providence Overnight on Rt. 95

Providence police responded to a shooting overnight in the city in which one man was shot. 

About Incident 

Shortly after midnight, police on patrol on Broad Street near Rt. 95 said they heard gunshots.

Officers said they began canvassing the area, when they heard an argument under the highway overpass and saw a man get into a car and flee the scene. 

According to police, they saw another man leave the scene on foot on Route 95.

Police said they located the individual on an embankment on the highway, at which time he told police he had been shot; police reported seeing a wound to his leg.

Rescue was called for the victim.

Police say they were able to locate multiple shell casings and a bullet at the scene. 

Detectives are currently investigating.
