Man Stabbed at Dexter Training Ground Park in Providence

Police responded to a report of a stabbing in the city on Friday night.

About Incident

Shortly after 10 PM on Friday night, police were called to the Dexter Training Ground Park — behind the Cranston Street Armory — for a report of a stabbing.

According to police, the victim — a male in his early 50 — said he went to use the restroom at the Training Ground when two males approached him. 

The victim said words were exchanged, before one of the men stabbed him in both legs, and then fled along with the other man. 

Police say the victim was taken by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital where he required emergency surgery. 

Detectives are currently investigating.
