The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting snow to hit Rhode Island this weekend.

According to the agency, winter weather is in the forecast starting Saturday and potentially into early next week.

This forecast is as of Wednesday, January 3 at 5:25 PM, and NWS has not identified predicted accumulation amounts.

A slight chance of snow after 3 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Light and variable wind is coming east at 5 to 7 mph in the morning. The chance of precipitation is 20%.

 

Saturday Night

There is a chance of snow before 10 pm, then rain and snow. Low around 31. Blustery, with an east wind 8 to 13 mph, increasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%.

 

Sunday

Rain and snow before 3 pm, then a chance of snow. High near 38. Breezy, with a north wind of 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%.

A chance of snow before 10 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 25. Northwest wind 10 to 13 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30%.
