The Swansea Police warrant for Viera alleges he attempted to rob a McDonald's in Swansea on Tuesday, December 7.

At approximately 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Swansea Police were dispatched to the McDonald's on James Reynolds Road for a report of an attempted robbery.

During officers' on-scene investigation, police said they learned that a man had allegedly approached a cashier demanding money. When the cashier refused, the suspect allegedly fled the restaurant.

According to Swansea police, after reviewing video surveillance footage, the manager of McDonald's was able to provide a photo of the suspect to police.

Swansea Police then shared the photo with surrounding agencies.

Warren Police Lt. Christopher Perreault identified Viera as the suspect, and additional investigation led to Swansea Police obtaining the warrant.

Viera is expected to appear in court in Rhode Island and according to Swansea Police, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office Extradition Coordinator is working on the process of having Viera extradited back to Massachusetts.
