Man Bites Providence Police Officer After Being Thrown Out of Bar Thanksgiving Eve

Providence police responded to a report of a disturbance at Fish Co. on Bridge Street shortly before midnight on Wednesday.

Police reported that Ricci was pushed out the door and fell to the ground.
As the officer approached Ricci to address the disturbance, Ricci reportedly tried to punch the officer before being taken into custody.
The officer said as he struggled to detain Ricci, Ricci bit him above his eye, before backup units were called to the scene.
Police also identified Brandon Branch, age 25, as attempting to obstruct officers from duty.
Both Ricci and Branch were placed into custody.
The responding officer was taken to Roger Williams Hospital and treated for injuries to his eye as well as arms and legs.
