NEW: Murder-for-Hire Suspect Arrested by Providence Police

Providence Police have arrested Providence resident Michelle Larracuente for allegedly attempting to hire a hit man to murder the mother of a Providence Police Officer and burn her home. The arrest comes after a successful undercover investigation by the Providence Police Department Intelligence Unit.

The Investigation

On Wednesday, July 22, Providence Police were contacted by the Providence Fire Department Arson Squad and an investigator from the RI Department of Corrections regarding a murder-for-hire scheme involving a Providence Police Officers' mother.

Police were told that an individual had reported being approached by a Larracuente, who asked the individual to seriously injure the police officers mother, burn down her house and vandalize another home in exchange for money.

Police then used video and audio recording equipment to monitor meetings between the cooperating individual and Larracuente. Larracuente was recorded asking that the officers mother get beaten so badly that she would die from her injuries as well as the mother's house be burned down and another house vandalized.

The two agreed to meet at a later date for a deposit to be made after agreeing on a price for the services.

The two met again on July 24 for 40 minutes. During this meeting Larracuente advised the individual on how to get into the officer's mother's house and provided the individual  with a  cash deposit.

The Arrest

Larracuente was placed in police custody on July 24 and appeared in 6th District Court on Monday morning before being released on $100,000 bail and pending home confinement. Larracuente was also issued a no contact order on the individual and her residence.
