RI DCYF Announces Second Child Fatality in One Month

The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) has announced the second death of a child in one month. 

On Thursday, DCYF disclosed the fatality of a 3-month-old child on April 5 - from maltreatment. 

On May 7, DCYF had announced that another child had died on April 25.

Latest in RI 

Regarding the latest fatality, DCYF said an investigation has determined this fatality resulted from maltreatment. The child and the family were not open to the Department at the time of this incident.

The incident occurred on April 5, 2025, and DCYF has notified the Office of Child Advocate.
