NEW: RI is Ranked as the Worst Place in US to Retire

Rhode Island is the worst place to retire in the United States, according to a recent study done by WalletHub. 

According to the study, Rhode Island ranks last in affordability rank, 45th in quality of life rank and 35th in health care rank. 

Rhode Island is directly behind Hawaii and the District of Columbia at 49th and 50th respectively, while Florida is ranked as the best state to retire.

The Study

To identify the best states to retire in, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia using three key dimensions, affordability, quality of life and Health Care. 

WalletHub put together 24 metrics and gave them each a value between 0 and 100, 100 being the best value. 

WalletHub calculated the overall score for each state and ranked them using the weighted average.
