RI Ranks 2nd Worst in Country For Hispanic Assimilation

Rhode Island ranks as the second worst state in America for Hispanic assimilation, according to a recent study done by WalletHub. 

Rhode Island ranks 32nd in Cultural & Civic Assimilation, 49th in Educational Assimilation and 51st in Economic Assimilation. 

Rhode Island also ranks in the bottom five for lowest test scores in math and reading, lowest median annual income, highest unemployment rates, lowest homeownership rates and highest poverty rates.

One positive for Rhode Island is that the state ranks second with highest percentage  of Hispanic population naturalized in the United States. 

Other Rankings

According to WalletHub, Massachusetts is the worst state for Hispanic Assimilation while Vermont is ranked as the best state.

To figure out how well Hispanics have adapted to the America, WalletHub compared the 50 states an the District of Columbia using 14 metrics. Some of this metrics included English Proficiency, educational attainment to homeownership.
