During the vehicle inventory search report, officers say they located a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun hiding underneath the front passenger seat and a twelve-round magazine in the front door pocket.

In Rhode Island, the maximum legal magazine capacity for most firearms is 10 rounds. Magazines exceeding this capacity are considered "large-capacity" and possession is classified as a felony, unless qualifying for specific exemptions.

North Providence Police stated that they also discovered Ellis was driving with a suspended license and registration.
