Providence House Riddled With Bullets in Shooting Overnight

Providence Police said more than a dozen shell casings were found following a shooting outside a house in Providence on Saturday night. 

According to police, multiple bullet holes could be seen in the home’s porch, and a bullet was located in the dining room of the residence. 

Police said there were multiple people inside the home at the time of the shooting.

About Incident

Shortly after 11 PM Saturday night, police responded to a report of a shooting on Victor Emmanuel Avenue, blocks off of Charles Street near the North Providence line. 

According to police, more than a dozen shell casings were found in the street. 

An SUV parked in the vicinity had bullet holes in both the driver's and passenger’s side windows, say police. 

Police reported that multiple bullet holes were observed in a porch window, and a bullet was found inside the home in the dining room. 

Following the shooting, police said they spoke with the residence's occupants — who were home at the time of the shooting — and that there were no injuries reported. 

Detectives are currently investigating. 


Latest in Providence 

The shooting comes a week after a weekend of violence in the city that may be tied to a growing gang battle, according to Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements.

Moreover, Providence police took additional guns off the streets over the weekend that appeared to be related to gang feuds. 

“We’re absolutely looking at the gang factor,” Clements told GoLocal. “We’re always concerned with retaliation.”
