Providence Police: 30 Shell Casings Located In Over 5 Different Shots-Fired Locations Over Weekend

In addition, the Providence police union said there were nine assaults with a deadly weapon — inlacing a hit-and-run that killed a Johnson and Wales student.
“Another violent weekend in the city,” said the union, with the hashtag #enoughisenough.

9/5- 823 Potters Ave 5 shell casings and firearm recovered with an arrest.

9/7- 35 Hammond St - 5 shell casings recovered, two vehicles were chasing/shooting at each other, innocent bystanders house was subsequently struck by stray rounds.
9/7- 583 Admiral St - Vehicle was struck by gunfire, no shell casings found.
9/7- 42 Rockland Ave - 7 shell casings recovered.
9/7- 104 Fillmore St - 10 shell casings recovered.
9/7- 1215 North Main St - male shot in head, no shell casings found.
Assaults with Deadly Weapons
"Victim shot in head, vehicle shot into, 3 people stabbed, Victim struck in head with blunt object, Victim repeatedly rammed while driving in their vehicle, a RISD student threatened with a firearm that was pointed at him, and a victim being threatened with a knife," wrote the union.
"A hit and run fatality involving a JWU student who was walking on Narragansett Blvd where he was struck by a vehicle. The male student later succumbed to his injuries," they added.
Monday Shootings
Hammond Street
On 9/7/2020 at approximately 1223 hours, Police responded to 35 Hammond Street for a call of shots fired. Upon arrival Police met [two people] who both stated that they were in their backyard and heard five shots fired. One stated that he observed a vehicle with a passenger hanging out of the front seat passenger side pointing a gun and shooting it towards a vehicle that they were chasing. The vehicles were seen traveling eastbound on Division Street.
Police spoke to a resident who stated that his property located at 35 Hammond Street was damaged on the right hand side of the house. Police observed a bullet hole in the top left window pane to the bow window of the living room that faces Division Street. The resident added that he was in the living room when the window was hit.
Police located .22 casings in the roadway of Division Street between Hammond Street and Harrison Street.
Admiral Street
On 09/07/20 at approximately 1357 hours police were dispatched to 563 Admiral Street for a report of shots fired, that the caller stated possibly occurred [the previous] night. Upon arrival, police spoke to a woman who stated she discovered several bullet holes in her vehicle this afternoon.
She stated she last seen her vehicle,without any damage when she parked it in front of her residence yesterday at approximately 1600 hours. Garcia stated she then moved the vehicle last night to her driveway at approximately 1800 hours, but did not observe any damage. At approximately 1345 hours, Garcia stated she came outside of the residence to find the damage to her vehicle.
Police observed approximately five bullet holes to the rear driver side of the vehicle and the tire on the rear driver side to be flat.
Police searched the area near the residence but did not locate any shell casings.
BCI Detectives responded and processed the scene.
Rockland Avenue
On Monday, September 7, 2020 at approximately 2020 hours, police were dispatched to 42 Rockland Ave for a report of five (5) to eight (8) shots heard.
Upon arrival, police were flagged down by witnesses, who all wish to remain anonymous, that stated they observed a vehicle fleeing the scene. Police canvas the area and located seven (7) shell casings on Rockland Ave overlooking Rockingham Street. A broadcast of the fleeing vehicle was aired.
Police responded to Rockingham and located five (5) bullet fragments in front of 25 Rockingham Street. Police spoke to the occupants of the 2nd and 3rd floor who stated there were no victims, and or evidence of a projectile into their apartments. They all stated they did not hear shots fired and or see anything. Police could not make contact with the 1st floor tenants who residents describe as not frequenting the apartment. Police observed no evidence consistent with projectiles being fired into a home.
While on scene police gathered information from a witness, who wishes to remain anonymous, that stated they observed the occupant(s) of a vehicle fire 5-7 shots down towards a white vehicle, unknown make or model/ The vehicle fled the scene upon police arrival.

Fillmore Street
On Monday, September 7, 2020 at approximately 2147 hours, Chad Brown Gun Violence Detail responded to 104 Fillmore St. APT D in the lot for shots fired.
Upon arrival, Police observed two (2) groups, one in front of the above mentioned address and another in front of 90 Fillmore St., stating that there were no shots fired in the area. Police canvassed the back lot of 104 Fillmore St and observed ten (10) spent shell casings closely scattered across from APT D. Police observed a camera in front of 104 Fillmore St. APT B and a Providence Housing camera at the intersection of Fillmore St and Oregon St. it should be noted that there is no property damage at this time.
North Main Street
On Monday September 7, 2020 at 2209 hours Police were dispatched to 1215 North Main Street for a report of shots fired. While en route Dispatch advised Police there was possible glass broken on the roadway.
Upon arrival Police were not able to locate a scene. At approximately 2245hours Dispatch advised that they received a call from Pawtucket Police, stating they had a shooting victim at 35 Cedar Street in Pawtucket from an incident that occurred in Providence.
The victim was transported by Pawtucket rescue to Rhode Island Hospital. HE stated to Police he was shot at an unknown location traveling outbound on North Main Street while operating his vehicle . At this time Police observed the victim to have minor laceration to the back of his head. The victim stated the lacerations were caused by a bullet. It should be noted the vehicle remain on scene at 35 Cedar Street in Pawtucket.
