Providence Police Announce Arrest in Broad Street Laundromat Homicide

Providence police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a recent homicide suspect.

Major David Lapatin announced that Johan Quinones, 22, of Providence, was arrested in Jersey City, New Jersey, in connection to a shooting during an attempted robbery on October 12.

The homicide occurred on the 1300 block of Broad Street, inside a laundromat.

Police say that Melvin Ricardo Perez Reyes, age 38, was shot in an altercation during the attempted robbery inside the business. 

It marked the city’s 38th homicide in 37 months.
