About Incident

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to Houston Street -- off of Broad Street --  for a report of a break-in.

Upon arriving, police met with a man who had a wound to his head, as well as his hand.

The man told police that three unknown males entered his residence through an open window as he was sleeping on the couch.

According to police, the man said he then fought with the intruders when he sustained his injuries.

He also said he heard a loud bang during the fight which he believed was a gunshot, before the intruders fled.

Police said they observed what looked like a bullet hole in the top of the television screen.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Police are currently investigating.
