Rhode Island State Police Investigate Crash Involving a Cruiser in Providence

The crash involving a State Police police cruiser on Route 95 North at the Route 146 North merge in the City of Providence.
Initial investigation revealed that Trooper was stopped on the highway in his cruiser in the first lane of travel, while investigating a motor vehicle accident at the 95/146 merge.
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTAt the scene, a Gray Toyota vehicle that was being operated by a Maksim Gorbachev, age 36 of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, then struck the rear of the Trooper’s cruiser after failing to stop.
Upon impact, the suspect vehicle attempted to leave the scene and subsequently collided with the cruiser a second time where it came to rest.
The Trooper was treated at Rhode Island Hospital and later released.
Gorbachev was arrested and transported back to the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence, Driving to Endanger Resulting in Physical Injury, Leaving the Scene-Accident/Attended Vehicle, and Chemical Test Refusal.
The name of the Trooper was not released.
