RI State Police identify man struck while crossing Route 95 North
The Rhode Island State Police have identified the man who was hit by a car while attempting to cross Route 95 North at Thurbers Avenue early Wednesday morning.

State Police identified the man as Gregory Perez, 30, of 132 Lenox Avenue in Providence.

The investigation is still ongoing.

The Investigation

According to RI State Police, the investigation of the crash showed that Perez who was wearing dark clothing, entered onto the highway from the right breakdown lane area at approximately 2:04 a.m. Wednesday morning.

He then proceeded to cross three lanes of travel when he was struck by a car being operated northbound on Route 95 in the City of Providence.

Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to RI State Police, the accident remains under investigation, however, it appears that no criminal charges will be brought against the operator who struck Perez.
