Teenage Girl Says She Was Abducted and Assaulted in Providence Before Fleeing Suspect

Shortly after 10 PM on Monday, Providence police responded to the Stop & Shop at 850 Manton Avenue.
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTPolice say they met with the victim — a teenage girl — who said she had been walking earlier on Chalkstone Avenue when a man grabbed her and pulled her into a backyard, and assaulted her.
She told police the man physically restrained her before she was able to flee to the Stop & Shop.
The suspect reportedly followed the girl into the store at which point a store manager intervened and ordered him to leave; police were called to the scene.
Police say the suspect is described to be a “Hispanic male in his 20’s, thin build, about 5’5 in height with short hair, who was last seen wearing a Gray North Face hoodie and gray pants.”
Detectives are currently investigating.
