Victim Hospitalized After Assault by Multiple Suspects on Thayer Street

A man was hospitalized after reportedly being assaulted by more than a half dozen individuals on Thayer Street in Providence early Sunday morning. 

About Incident 

Shortly after 2 AM Sunday morning, police and rescue responded to the area of Thayer and Olive Streets for a report of an assault.

The male victim told police he and a friend had been in the area to get food, when a car stopped in the street and occupants began to yell at him.

The victim said one of the vehicle occupants got out, and that he was then surrounded by more than a half dozen individuals.

He said he was pushed to the ground, where he was kicked and punched; police said they observed blood, bruising, and a “boot print” on his face. 

The suspects reportedly fled the scene following the assault; the victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment,,. 

Detectives are currently investigating.
