5 Takeaways From Brown's 74-57 Loss to Georgetown

Cedric Kuakumensah breaks all-time Ivy League blocked shots record
The Brown Bears men's basketball team ( 3-6) fell 74-57 to (5-3) Georgetown on Monday night at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. 

The highlight of the game for Brown came with 16:33 seconds left in the first half when senior forward Cedric Kuakumensah recorded his 253rd blocked shot, breaking the Ivy League all-time record. The previous record was held by Brian Gilpin who set it during his career at Dartmouth from 1993 to 1997. 

Brown University will honor Kuakumensah at their January 30th home game against Penn. Gilpin will be in attendance.

The Bears trailed 3-2 early in the first half before the Hoyas took over, going on a 21-2 run to take 24-4 lead in the game. Georgetown would lead 46-15 at the half. 

In the second, Brown would get no closer than 17 points, outscoring Georgetown 42-28 in the half. 

Georgetown would cruise to the 74-57 win, but it was a historic night for Brown basketball nonetheless. 

The Leaders 

Brown was led by Steven Spieth who recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds in the game. 

Tavon Blackmon followed up with 11 points and five assists in his homecoming game. 

Next up 

After a 15 day break for exams, the Bears return to action on December 22nd when they take on Marist at Mohegan Sun Arena as part of the Hall of Fame shoot out. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m.

Brown's next home game will be December 30th against the University of Rhode Island.
