Brown Football Set to Host Princeton in Return to Ivy League Play
The Brown Bears football team (2-2,0-1 Ivy) returns to Ivy League play on Saturday when they host (3-1, 0-1 Ivy) Princeton at Brown Stadium.

The Tigers are coming off a 50-30 win over Georgetown in their last game, while Brown enters the game following a 17-13 loss to Stetson.

“The biggest thing we have to do is move on from the bad loss to Stetson. It has created a lot of doubts about who we are as a team. We have made a lot of adjustments this week, had a good week of practice, a lot of energy, so we are looking forward to moving on here,” Brown head coach Phil Estes told GoLocal.

Princeton vs Brown

The Bears and Tigers will meet for the 84 time in program history on Saturday, with the first ever meeting taking place in 1898.

Princeton holds a 55-28 advantage in the all-time series, winning last year’s game 31-7 at Princeton.

Brown’s last victory in the series came in 2015, when they edged the Tigers 38-31 at Brown Stadium.

Brown Offense

The Bears offense has averaged 23.3 points and 358 total yards per game so far this season.

Thomas Linta will make his third straight start this week after taking over for Nick Duncan in the game against Harvard.

“What happened with Duncan is he started the first game did a good job, sprained his ankle against Harvard and was not effective. He has not been available the last couple of weeks. TJ came in and gave us a spark.

Duncan is available this week, but TJ’s got the reins right now,” said Estes.

Linta went 14 for 21 for 143 yards last week with a touchdown and two interceptions.

The Bears offense will look to ride the momentum that freshman running back Darius Daies who rushed for 59 yards last week on 14 carries.

However, Princeton’s rush defense is the best in the Ivy League and fourth best in the country, giving up only 54 yards per game.

“Princeton has one of the best rushing defenses in the country. Dais has given us a lift out of the backfield, but this is tough cause we really need to run the ball and we are gonna have to run the ball in this game,” said Estes.

Brown Defense

The Brown defense has given up 26 points and 399 total yards per game this season.

The defense is led by senior defensive end Richard Jarvis who ranks second in the country with an average of 1.25 sacks per game, while his 1.9 tackles for loss per game is 6th best in the country.

Jarvis’ 14.5 career sacks ranks fourth all-time at Brown.

Think Pink Day

During the Princeton game, Brown is celebrating Think Pink Day in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

They are asking all fans to wear pink to the game.
