NEW: Former Patriot Spikes Charged with Speeding and Negligence

Former New England Patriot Brandon Spikes has been charged by Massachusetts State Police with several motor vehicle offenses, including speeding and negligence, after crashing his 2011 Maybach Sedan into the back of a sport utility vehicle on Route 495 north in Foxborough. The charges come after an investigation of the incident that happened in the early morning of  Sunday, June 7.

The crash caused minor injuries to the occupants of the SUV, a man, woman and their 12 year old son. All three were transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro where they were treated and then released.

The charges are as follows:

1. Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Crash;
2. Operating a Motor Vehicle Negligently to Endanger;
3. Speeding; and
4. Failure to Stay Within Marked Lanes.

Spikes will be summonsed to appear in Wrentham District Court, at a date yet to be determined.

Released From Patriots

The Patriots released Brandon Spikes on Monday, June 8 after signing him to a one year deal on May 18th.

Spikes spent his first four NFL seasons with New England and was expected to play a big part in their revamped defense.
