Patriots Activate Burkhead off Injured Reserve

Rex Burkhead is activated off injured reserve
The New England Patriots activated running back Rex Burkhead to the 53-man roster on Monday.

Burkhead was placed on injured reserve after suffering a neck injury during the Patriots week three loss to the Detroit Lions.

He will be eligible to play on Sunday when New England hosts Minnesota at Gillette Stadium.

To make room for Burkhead, the Patriots released offensive lineman Matt Tobin.

Burkhead has been plagued by injuries throughout his career with the Patriots.

In the three games that Burkhead played this season, he put up 86 rushing yards on 24 carries, as well as, three catches for 31 yards.

In two seasons with the Patriots, Burkhead has played just 13 games.

He has 88 carries for 350 yards and five touchdowns.

Burkhead also has 33 catches for 285 yards and three touchdowns.
