Red Sox Drop 3rd Straight Game, Shut Out by Orioles 7-0

The Boston Red Sox dropped their third straight game, falling to the Baltimore Orioles 7-0 at Fenway Park on Saturday.

Boston falls to 73-56 on the season and now hold a 3.5 game lead over the New York Yankees in the AL East.

Orioles Take Control Early

Baltimore grabbed control of the game early on, scoring five runs in the 2nd inning.

Baltimore’s Mark Trumbo put Orioles ahead with a single up the middle.

Craig Gentry then followed with a bloop RBI single to center to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead.

Tim Beckham capped off the scoring in the inning with a three run home run over the Green Monster to put the Orioles up 5-0.

Baltimore would add one run in the 8th and another in the 9th to get their 7-0 lead.

Orioles pitcher Kevin Gausman gave up only four hits in 7 2/3 innings to shout out the Red Sox.
