RIC Names Abolfazli Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach

Rhode Island College has named Aidan Abolfazli as an assistant men’s soccer coach.

“Aidan will be a valuable addition to our program,” Head Men’s Soccer Coach John Mello said. “He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge of soccer and I look forward to working with him.”

Abolfazli added, “Coach Mello has provided me with a great opportunity to continue my growth as a coach. I am very excited to be a part of the Rhode Island College men’s soccer program. I look forward to helping with the development of our student-athletes, and excited to reinforce the program’s values, tradition and success.”

About Abolfazli

Abolfazli was previously the goalkeeper coach at Franklin Pierce.

He was also the boys’ junior varsity soccer coach at Doherty High School in Worcester in 2017 and 2018. Abolfazli has an extensive background at the club level, having served as the GPS Fortis FC goalkeeper coach and the U-13 boys’ coach.

Abolfazli spent four seasons at Franklin Pierce as a goalkeeper from 2013-16 and was a member of an NCAA Tournament team during his senior year in 2016.

The Worcester native earned a bachelor’s degree in sports and recreation management from Franklin Pierce in 2017 and is currently working on his master’s degree in sports management at Franklin Pierce.
