Sandoval's Three Hits Help Red Sox Past Chicago 4-1

Pablo Sandoval had three hits, including a tiebreaking RBI single in the fourth to help the Red Sox beat the Chicago White Sox 4-1 on Wednesday in Chicago. 

Sandoval, who played his first game since being activated from the disabled list following a sprained right knee, went 3 for 4 in the game. 

Red Sox pitcher Drew Pomeranz picked up his second straight win and 5th of the season by striking out eight in the game.

The Red Sox improve to 29-23 on the season. 

Red Sox Offense Erupts in 6th 

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning, the Red Sox offense erupted for four runs in the inning. 

After Xander Bogaerts scored on a RBI groundout by Josh Rutledge, Sandoval singled to left field driving in Mitch Moreland to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead. 

One batter later, Christian Vazquez hit a two-run double to scored Rutledge and Sandoval and give the Red Sox a 4-1 lead. 

Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel struck out the side in the 9th inning to give the Red Sox the win.

The Red Sox open up a four-game series with the Baltimore Orioles in Baltimore beginning on Thursday, June 1 at 7 p.m. 

The pitching matchup for Thursday’s game is Boston’s Eduardo Rodriguez against Baltimore’s Wade Miley.
