URI Basketball Gets Commitment From 4-Star Guard Elijah Wood
He made the announcement via his Twitter account.
Wood is coming to URI after recommitting from Tulane due to head coach Mike Dunleavy being fired.

But I was told everything happens for a reason and god will have my back no matter what. I would like to thank my coaches who have been here along the way and never switched up. Finally, I would like to thank Coach Cox and the Rhode Island staff for giving me the opportunity to be apart of this winning culture,” Wood wrote on Twitter.
Wood also had offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, and Kansas State.
About Wood
Wood is a 6’5” guard from Bethesda, Maryland.
He currently ranked as the 105th best prospect and the 22nd best shooting guard prospect, according to Rivals.
He is URI’s first commitment for the class of 2020.
Wood will join the Rams in 2020.
URI in 2019-20
For the 2019 season, URI has commitments from Mekhi Long and Gregory Hammond and Jacob Toppin.
The Rams also have added transfers Antwan Walker - a redshirt sophomore forward from Georgetown - and Jeremy Sheppard - a junior guard from the College of Central Florida for this season.
Marial Mading announced earlier this month that he was leaving the program, before ever stepping on the court for Rhode Island.
URI has two open scholarships for the upcoming season.
