URI Closes Non-Conference Season With 72-60 Win Over Middle Tennessee

Dana Tate pours in 15 points for URI.
Freshman Dana Tate poured in 15 points off the bench to lead the University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a 72-60 victory over Middle Tennessee at the Ryan Center.

Tate’s points came on 5 of 7 shooting from the field including 3 of 3 from beyond the arc. He also grabbed six rebounds in 17 minutes of action.

“This is the Dana Tate we knew we would get. He’s a very talented offensive player. He can score at three different levels and he’s a really good shooter. I asked him to give me one corner three today and he said he had me. Then he gave me a couple more,” said URI head coach David Cox after the game.
