NEW: Gas Prices Edge Below $4

Gas prices have dropped six cents, dipping below $4 a gallon, according to the weekly survey of prices by AAA Southern New England.

The current average price of self-serve regular unleaded gas in Rhode Island is $3.97 a gallon, according to AAA. That represents a total decrease of eight cents over a two-week period.

The news is not all good, however. The current price is still 13 cents about the current national average and it is more than a dollar above the average price in Rhode Island a year ago, which was $2.87 a gallon.
