The Nonprofit Innovation Lab
United Way and SEG will pick up to ten participants as the program’s first cohort of Fellows, providing the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to launch new solutions to existing social problems, and to compete for funds to set their new ideas to action.
Along with utilizing a social impact curriculum, the Nonprofit Innovation Lab offers Fellows the critical resources – coaching, access to networks and capital – that they need to bring their ideas to life.
The Nonprofit Innovation Lab runs from January through June 2020, and consists of three components:
- 6-week Boot Camp with intensive expert instruction via two 4-hour sessions each week, as well as online curriculum to refine innovation plans and set milestone goals.
- 16-week Milestone Accelerator phase, when Fellows connect and work with advisors throughout United Way and SEG networks.
- Nonprofit Innovation Pitch Event, in late June 2020, five of the Fellows present their final innovation plans in a competition for $90,000 in seed money.
Application Process
The online application will remain open through noon on November 4.
Interested candidates will answer a series of questions regarding their organization and their idea, and submit up to 10 slides outlining their proposed new product or service. Application finalists will be notified in November and will be asked to present at a Quick Pitch selection event in December.
Fellows will be announced immediately following the December event.
