Newport Food Truck Festival, Newport

Saturday  Twenty gourmet food trucks will gather at the Newport Yachting Center to serve an endless menu of everything from grilled cheese to cupcakes. Trucks will serve sample-size portions and full meals. Kid’s activities, plenty of samplings, and live entertainment. 11am-5pm, Admission wristbands: in advance online, $7/day of festival, $10. First Baptist Church 375th Anniversary Celebration + Concert, Providence

Sunday  It does not get more historic, nor more purely Rhode Island, than this. The First Baptist Church in America celebrates the 375th anniversary of its founding by Roger Williams, who in 1638 founded this congregation along with Providence and Providence Plantations. The concert will feature the Greg Abate Jazz Quartet along with the choir and string orchestra of The First Baptist Church in America, and will feature the premiere of "Festive Hymn" written for this event by British composer Nigel Williams. 3pm in the historic Meetinghouse, 75 North Main Street, Providence, RI. Ghost: The Musical, Providence

Ghost: The Musical hits PPAC today and runs through Sunday.
Thursday-Sunday  You loved it on the screen, and now you can love it on the big stage at Providence Performing Arts Center. Ghost The Musical is a timeless fantasy about the power of love. Walking back to their apartment one night, Sam and Molly are mugged, leaving Sam murdered on a dark street. Sam is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next and unable to leave Molly who he learns is in grave danger. With the help of a phony storefront psychic, Oda Mae Brown, Sam tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of saving and protecting her. Plus, songs! 51st Annual Post Card Show, Warwick

42nd Annual Rock + Mineral Show, Warwick

Saturday-Sunday  It's a weekend for collectors in Rhode Island, and this bonanza of treasures is a great outing for families looking for a fun way to get the kids interested in geology and all things that sparkle in the earth. The show features more than 27 vendors selling everything from minerals and fossils, beautiful crystals, gem and precious metal jewelry, and other rock and mineral merchandise. Hourly mineral drawings, big fluorescent rock exhibit, gold panning and geode breaking for kids, silent auction, talks and much more. Free parking. Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 10am-4pm. $6 donation, $5 with discount. Kids under 12 free, and boy and girl scouts also free with wearing official uniform or t-shirt.
