After a Dozen Firearms & Thousands of Rounds of Ammo Stolen, Prov. and Warwick Police Make Arrest

Police in Rhode Island have apprehended an individual after a dozen firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition were reported stolen in Warwick. 

According to police, a storage facility was broken into in Warwick on Friday, January 9, when the items were taken.

Based on the description of the vehicle involved in the break-in, police said they located the vehicle in question.

An individual was arrested; police say that guns and ammunition were found and seized. 

 

About Incident 

Police say that at approximately 3 PM on Saturday, they responded to New York Avenue in Providence, where they located the vehicle - a red Chevrolet Silverado with Florida registration - reportedly involved in the break-in in Warwick.

Upon arrival, police said they apprehended and detained Andrew Carl, age 35, who had been identified as the renter of the vehicle. 

Warwick Police had obtained a search warrant for the residence as well as the red Chevrolet Silverado; detectives from the Warwick Police Department as well as members from the Providence Police Department arrived at the location to conduct the search warrant. 

Police said they located over a dozen firearms, along with magazines and ammunition; the items were seized and placed in police custody. 

According to police, Carl is being charged by the Violent Crime Task Force with three counts of “License or Permit Required for Carrying Pistol;” 11 counts of Possession of Arms by Prohibited Person” and 11 counts of “Possession of Stolen Firearm.”

Police say another individual has been detained for questioning.
