Biden Task Force Member Says U.S. “About to Enter COVID Hell”

Dr. Michael Osterholm, who was named one of the new members President-elect Joe Biden coronavirus task force, told CNBC Monday night that the pandemic in the U.S. will face its darkest period so far over the next three to four months.

“What America has to understand is that we are about to enter COVID hell,” Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center of Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, told CNBC.” “It is happening.”

He made the comments as hospitals are reaching capacity in many Midwestern states and cases continue to explode across the country.

There were more than 130,000 new cases reported on Monday and cases have increased 64% over the past 14-days.

In Rhode Island, more than 1,600 tested positive over the weekend on limited testing.  When removing asymptomatic testing at the colleges and university, RI only conducted an average of 9,000 tests per day.
